As Mexico-based airline AeroMexico seeks to strengthen its partnership with Delta Air Lines, reports say the company will seek an extension of its antitrust immunity.
The US and Mexico are reportedly in discussions for an Open Skies treaty and, if that agreement moves forward, AeroMexico says it will pursue an official partnership with Delta, which owns 9.1 percent of the Mexican airliner.
The two companies have collaborated in the past, resulting in a commercial alliance in 2012. Delta also reportedly helped AeroMexico to develop its operations in Mexico City as AeroMexico looks to establish the city as its hub for travel to and from the Americas and Asia.
