The chief executive of DirecTV has announced a timeline for the company’s takeover by AT&T, say reports.
Mike White said Friday that the DirecTV/AT&T merger will be finalized and close in April of 2015. “We are optimistic that we will be able to get this deal closed in the first half of next year,” the DirecTV leader said.
The $48.5 billion takeover comes in the midst of several major communications-related mergers in the nation. The companies were first reported to be planning a merger soon after Comcast announced its plans to acquire Time Warner Cable.
Both deals will face scrutiny from the US Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission, as well as several states attorneys general.
